Editing Your WhatsApp Business Profile

The Edit WhatsApp Profile tab lets admins update the public WhatsApp Business profile connected to the platform.

This is the profile customers see when they open your WhatsApp business number, so it should include accurate business information, a clear description, and trusted contact details.


📍 Where to Find Edit WhatsApp Profile #

Go to:

Settings → WhatsApp Settings → Edit WhatsApp Profile

This tab appears only for users who have permission to view WhatsApp profiles.

To update the profile, your user must also have edit permission for the WhatsApp Profile.


🧾 What You Can Update #

From this tab, you can update:

  • 🖼️ Profile picture
  • 📝 Description
  • ℹ️ About
  • 🏷️ Category
  • 📍 Address
  • 📧 Email
  • 🔗 Website URL 1
  • 🔗 Website URL 2
  • 🔐 Two-step verification PIN

🖼️ Profile Picture #

The profile picture appears at the top of the form.

To change it:

  1. Click the camera icon on the profile image.
  2. Select a new image from your device.
  3. Preview the image in the form.
  4. Click Update Profile.

Supported image types:

  • PNG
  • JPG
  • JPEG

Maximum upload size:

  • 5 MB

If the file is not an image or if it is larger than 5 MB, the system shows a warning and clears the selected file.


📝 Description #

The Description field is used for a longer explanation of your business.

Use it to tell customers:

  • What your business does
  • What services do you provide
  • What customers can contact you for
  • What makes your business relevant or trusted

Example:

We provide appointment booking, customer support, order updates, and product assistance through WhatsApp.


ℹ️ About #

The About field is a short business status or summary.

This field is required.

Use a short and clear sentence.

Examples:

  • Official WhatsApp support channel
  • Customer support and order updates
  • Book appointments and get assistance
  • Your trusted service partner

🏷️ Category #

The Category field defines your business industry.

This field is required.

Select the category that best matches your business type. The available options come from the supported business industry list.

Choose the closest accurate category because this information may be visible as part of your WhatsApp Business profile.


📍 Address #

The Address field stores your business address.

This field is required.

Use a clear address customers can recognize, especially if your business has a physical location.

Example:

Downtown Dubai, UAE


📧 Email #

The Email field stores the public business email shown in your WhatsApp profile.

This field is required and must use a valid email format.

Example:

support@example.com

Use an email address that customers can safely contact.


🔗 Website URLs #

You can add up to two website URLs:

  • Website URL 1
  • Website URL 2

Website fields are optional, but if entered, they must start with:

  • http://
  • https://

Recommended format:

https://website-domain.com

Use these fields for:

  • Main business website
  • Booking page
  • Online store
  • Support portal
  • Product catalog page

🔐 Change PIN #

The Change PIN button lets you set or update the WhatsApp two-step verification PIN for the connected WhatsApp phone number.

This PIN is used when registering the WhatsApp phone number with WhatsApp again.

To change the PIN:

  1. Click Change PIN.
  2. Enter a new 6-digit PIN.
  3. Click Next.
  4. Confirm the same 6-digit PIN.
  5. Click Confirm.

If the two PIN entries do not match, the system shows an error and does not submit the change.

When successful, the system shows a confirmation message that the two-step verification PIN was created successfully.


💾 How to Save Profile Changes #

After updating the required fields:

  1. Review the profile picture.
  2. Confirm Description, About, Category, Address, and Email are correct.
  3. Add website URLs if needed.
  4. Click Update Profile.

The system sends the updated profile information to the WhatsApp Cloud API.

If the update succeeds, you will see:

WhatsApp Profile Updated Successfully.


⚠️ Important Notes #

  • Your WhatsApp API credentials must be valid for the profile update to work.
  • If the access token is expired or invalid, the update may fail.
  • If the WhatsApp phone number is disconnected, the system may redirect to the phone disconnected page.
  • Website URLs must include http:// or https://.
  • The profile image must be PNG, JPG, or JPEG.
  • Profile image size must be 5 MB or smaller.

🔎 Common Issues #

🚫 I cannot see the Edit WhatsApp Profile Tab #

Possible reasons:

  • Your user does not have WhatsApp Profile View permission.
  • Your WhatsApp account is not configured yet.
  • The business profile could not be loaded from WhatsApp.

✏️ I Can View the profile, but cannot Update It #

Possible reasons:

  • Your user does not have WhatsApp Profile Edit permission.
  • The update buttons are hidden for your role.
  • The connected WhatsApp credentials are invalid.

🖼️ Profile Image Upload Fails #

Check that:

  • The file is an image.
  • The file extension is .png, .jpg, or .jpeg.
  • The file size is not more than 5 MB.

🔗 Website URL Is Not Accepted #

Make sure the URL starts with:

  • https://
  • http://

Example:

https://mybusiness.com


🔐 PIN Confirmation Fails #

The PIN confirmation must exactly match the first PIN.

Both PIN entries must be 6 digits.
